My Mom is My Hero

My mom is the most amazing woman in my life. The reason why I say that is because of all the sacrifices she’s made for me. She’s always had my back whether it was for a school matter or if it’s a sports related issue she always there for me. I love how my mom is so caring, she always makes time for her loved ones and I love that. One thing she’s always told me is don’t be scared of anything, don’t get intimidated just be confident, I live by that. Another reason why I think my mom is the best is because of how kind hearted she is too. She can dislike a person or not like what someone did and she will still forgive them. I love my mom so much.

20% Project, Week 5

This week was good improvement from last week. Last week I was not focused at all but this week I was really focusing on finishing my unit on duo lingo. This week was successful because I got to finish level three and I passed the unit review so next week I get to go on the next unit. One struggle that I had this week was my iPad was not working at the beginning of class so that took some time to fix the issue so I could keep working on my level but other than that there was no problems. Because I couldn’t get focused last week, I put my headphones on and I only was looking at my iPad and nobody else’s because last week that’s what mostly distracted me from working. On week six I will be starting at the beginning of unit two where it talks about how to greet people.

Rad Reading April

In the month of April I read the novel named New Kid by Jerry Craft. New Kid is a book that includes a middle school kid named Jordan Banks. Jordan just switched schools to a fancy, private school that has a strict policy. Jordan originally wanted to go to an art school because all he likes to do is draw about his life. Jordan is not used to this and when the first day of school came, he found out that he was one of the only people of color in his entire grade! So every day he has to deal with someone looking at him. But throughout this whole book he deals with people thinking he’s different but that doesn’t stop him from being himself.

I really liked this book because of how the author added humor to the characters. This book was one of the only books that actually made me crack up. The author had a good mix of emotions in this book, like a could have had the characters be really sad but then make a joke and that changes my whole mood when I read this book. This author did really well explaining the setting and what situation they were in.

In this novel my favorite character would have to be Jordan Banks. In the book Jordan plays as the new kid who doesn’t know anyone and tries to find friends. Just by Jordan being himself, he was able to gain some friends because of his humor. But if someone has something serious they need to talk about, Jordan will always be the good friend that will listen to anything. One character trait that describes Jordan is genuine. And one quote to prove that is,” Never comfort someone with a lie.” This means that telling the truth is way better than telling a lie because that lie can hurt your friendship.

My favorite quote from this entire novel is, “You don’t have to like everyone, but you don’t have to be a jerk about it either.” This quote is my favorite quote because it is very true and it relates to many people. You don’t always have to be friends with a person but at least don’t bully them. This quote really made me realize that people who think revenge is the way to satisfy them, its really cruel.

20% Project, Week 4

This week in my opinion was pretty successful. This week some of my accomplishments were learning how to actually right a sentence in Spanish. For example, I learned how to write “ The boy eats apples” this week so that’s an improvement. Some struggles that I had were not being able to finish the level that I was on. I had some struggles with the end of my levels because it said it was going to challenge us and I failed a lot so I couldn’t finish the level. But on the weekend I practiced with my self on the things I messed up on. Because finishing the level went badly, I had to make changes to my plan on finishing the levels because I’ve clearly not been focusing enough. I left off on the end of level three for next week. Thank you for reading and I will be focused next week!

20% Project, Week 3

In this week of my twenty percent project of learning how to have a conversation in Spanish, it was a pretty good week if I would say so. This week I started my level three on Duolingo but didn’t get to finish. On week three I got to accomplish starting level three on duo lingo and practicing with my parents on the weekend. I practiced the words I learned on duo lingo with them and also more. My struggles on week three were not getting a lot of level three done. I was struggling a little bit so it took more time. An adjustment I made was to write down the words on a paper so I don’t forget them and can practice at home. For week four I left off on level three but this week I need to really focus because last week I wasn’t really focused on my work I was more worried about other people than my actual work. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you next week!

The Best Room

My favorite room in my house is my backyard. My favorite room in my house is my backyard because of its large, beautiful, green grassland. My backyard has a huge grass area so we can fit multiple pieces of equipment and we can hold parties. Another reason why I like our backyard is because of the magnificent trees and plants. It’s such a relaxing thing to do when you’re having a bad day just to walk outside and admire the beautiful nature and enjoying the sunlight. And my last reason why the backyard is my favorite room is because my friends and family can come over and play outside.

20% Project, Week 2

This week in my goal of learning to have a conversation in Spanish was pretty good. Some accomplishments that I had this week were learning how to say apple, kid, boy, man, woman, and more so I can put in a sentence. This lesson helped me if I need to mention someone in my conversation that I’m going to have at the end of the eight weeks. On week two of my project my struggles were I was kind of learning some of the same things I was learning last week so like wasn’t learning a lot of new things. An adjustment that I made for my plan is to speed up the learning process so I can learn the basics quicker and finish the goal that I have at the end of my project. I left off on level three so next week I’m gonna finish level three and work on level four.

The Texans

Recently my baseball team got an idea to create a football team just for fun in a league called Friday Night Lights. This team was supposed to be just for fun and we weren’t expecting to be good, but boy was I wrong. The idea started with me and my baseball teammate talking about football, then we both thought the same thing, “What if we make our own football team.” Right them and there the so far undefeated Texans were made. We started the team with most of us that have never played football, but we are all athletic. So can you see how ours first practice went. Yea terrible. But we stuck with it. Our first game was coming up and I didn’t know what to expect, but surprisingly we won! Everyone was excited, but that was only the first week. So every practice we go it better and better, and we started winning and winning. And right now it’s week five this week and so far we are undefeated! So excited for the rest of this season and all the memories we are going To make.

20% Project, Week 1

Hello, my name is Nico and for my twenty percent project I chose to learn Spanish for the next six weeks. I choose Spanish because literally my whole entire family can speak it and some of the people only speak Spanish so I can’t communicate with them. For this project my parents are going to be my mentors. This week, my goal was to download Duo lingo and learn how to use it, And I think I completed this goal. This week I was learning all the mechanics of the app and learning the different settings. Some complications I had were remembering the words that I learned for a new question, but other than that I think t was a good week. One adjustment that I had made was looking at the main word that the app was trying to teach me and practice remembering the word, for example. The app asked me what the word “mejur” is a couple of times and I picked up what it meant and remembered it. I left off at level two in the app so next week I can work on level two and move on to level three. Thanks for reading hope to see you next week!

Rad Reading March

In the month of march I read the book named Rodricks Rules by Jeff Kinney. In this book, there is a boy in seventh grade named Greg and his brother named Rodrick. Since Greg is now in seventh grade, he thinks that he’s got middle school down and he doesn’t have to worry about anything, But there comes Rodrick. Now Rodrick sees this and now wants to destroy Gregs happiness. And throughout this book this book Greg tries to escape Rodricks tricks and pranks.

I really enjoyed this book as the author really put a lot of thought and creativity in this book. I loved how this author thought of a lot of ideas on how Greg tries to escape the pranks. And he also put thought into the pranks and tricks, they all made me laugh. I also felt that the author had very good description and I could easily picture things in my head.

In this book Greg was my favorite out of every character. Greg is my favorite character because of his ability to be naturally funny. He can be doing anything in the whole world and will still make it funny. One character trait that describes Greg is honest. One quote to prove that he’s honest Is, “Most people don’t seem to appreciate a person as honest as me. So don’t ask me how George Washington ever got to be president.” This shows why he is honest because he knows if anyone asks him something, he’s going to be brutally honest and the other person will not like it.

In the novel my favorite quote in the entire book is “ After the presentation we had to fill out these questionnaires. The first question was ‘where do you see urself in fifteen years?’ I know exactly where I will be in fifteen years: in my pool, at my mansion, counting money. But there weren’t any check boxes for THAT option.” This quote is my favorite quote because it shows Greg’s humor and his personality on trying to make things funny.
