20% Project, Week 3

In this week of my twenty percent project of learning how to have a conversation in Spanish, it was a pretty good week if I would say so. This week I started my level three on Duolingo but didn’t get to finish. On week three I got to accomplish starting level three on duo lingo and practicing with my parents on the weekend. I practiced the words I learned on duo lingo with them and also more. My struggles on week three were not getting a lot of level three done. I was struggling a little bit so it took more time. An adjustment I made was to write down the words on a paper so I don’t forget them and can practice at home. For week four I left off on level three but this week I need to really focus because last week I wasn’t really focused on my work I was more worried about other people than my actual work. Thank you for reading and I hope to see you next week!

The Best Room

My favorite room in my house is my backyard. My favorite room in my house is my backyard because of its large, beautiful, green grassland. My backyard has a huge grass area so we can fit multiple pieces of equipment and we can hold parties. Another reason why I like our backyard is because of the magnificent trees and plants. It’s such a relaxing thing to do when you’re having a bad day just to walk outside and admire the beautiful nature and enjoying the sunlight. And my last reason why the backyard is my favorite room is because my friends and family can come over and play outside.

20% Project, Week 2

This week in my goal of learning to have a conversation in Spanish was pretty good. Some accomplishments that I had this week were learning how to say apple, kid, boy, man, woman, and more so I can put in a sentence. This lesson helped me if I need to mention someone in my conversation that I’m going to have at the end of the eight weeks. On week two of my project my struggles were I was kind of learning some of the same things I was learning last week so like wasn’t learning a lot of new things. An adjustment that I made for my plan is to speed up the learning process so I can learn the basics quicker and finish the goal that I have at the end of my project. I left off on level three so next week I’m gonna finish level three and work on level four.

The Texans

Recently my baseball team got an idea to create a football team just for fun in a league called Friday Night Lights. This team was supposed to be just for fun and we weren’t expecting to be good, but boy was I wrong. The idea started with me and my baseball teammate talking about football, then we both thought the same thing, “What if we make our own football team.” Right them and there the so far undefeated Texans were made. We started the team with most of us that have never played football, but we are all athletic. So can you see how ours first practice went. Yea terrible. But we stuck with it. Our first game was coming up and I didn’t know what to expect, but surprisingly we won! Everyone was excited, but that was only the first week. So every practice we go it better and better, and we started winning and winning. And right now it’s week five this week and so far we are undefeated! So excited for the rest of this season and all the memories we are going To make.

20% Project, Week 1

Hello, my name is Nico and for my twenty percent project I chose to learn Spanish for the next six weeks. I choose Spanish because literally my whole entire family can speak it and some of the people only speak Spanish so I can’t communicate with them. For this project my parents are going to be my mentors. This week, my goal was to download Duo lingo and learn how to use it, And I think I completed this goal. This week I was learning all the mechanics of the app and learning the different settings. Some complications I had were remembering the words that I learned for a new question, but other than that I think t was a good week. One adjustment that I had made was looking at the main word that the app was trying to teach me and practice remembering the word, for example. The app asked me what the word “mejur” is a couple of times and I picked up what it meant and remembered it. I left off at level two in the app so next week I can work on level two and move on to level three. Thanks for reading hope to see you next week!

Rad Reading March

In the month of march I read the book named Rodricks Rules by Jeff Kinney. In this book, there is a boy in seventh grade named Greg and his brother named Rodrick. Since Greg is now in seventh grade, he thinks that he’s got middle school down and he doesn’t have to worry about anything, But there comes Rodrick. Now Rodrick sees this and now wants to destroy Gregs happiness. And throughout this book this book Greg tries to escape Rodricks tricks and pranks.

I really enjoyed this book as the author really put a lot of thought and creativity in this book. I loved how this author thought of a lot of ideas on how Greg tries to escape the pranks. And he also put thought into the pranks and tricks, they all made me laugh. I also felt that the author had very good description and I could easily picture things in my head.

In this book Greg was my favorite out of every character. Greg is my favorite character because of his ability to be naturally funny. He can be doing anything in the whole world and will still make it funny. One character trait that describes Greg is honest. One quote to prove that he’s honest Is, “Most people don’t seem to appreciate a person as honest as me. So don’t ask me how George Washington ever got to be president.” This shows why he is honest because he knows if anyone asks him something, he’s going to be brutally honest and the other person will not like it.

In the novel my favorite quote in the entire book is “ After the presentation we had to fill out these questionnaires. The first question was ‘where do you see urself in fifteen years?’ I know exactly where I will be in fifteen years: in my pool, at my mansion, counting money. But there weren’t any check boxes for THAT option.” This quote is my favorite quote because it shows Greg’s humor and his personality on trying to make things funny.

The Best Dinner Ever

There so many people I would want to invite for dinner, but my top three picks would be Drake, Kobe, and Mookie Betts. My first option would be my favorite song artist Drake, which is actually my middle name! I would choose drake so I could ask him how he got so successful and kept going at his dream even if he wasn’t so popular. My next person I would invite is the Lakers basketball Legend Kobe Bryant. I choose Kobe Bryant as one of my people is because of his mentality. Kobe has a one of one mentality mindset and I want to ask him how he got it and how he keeps pushing. My last person that I picked for my dinner was Mookie Betts. I chose him because I want to ask him how did his height and weight not stop him from achieving his dream because Mookie is not the tallest or strongest but he is one of the best MLB players of all time. And I am not gonna be the tallest or strongest so.

The Best Job in the World

If I could have one job in the entire world, it would have to be a Major League Baseball player. I would choose a Professional Baseball player because it has been my dream since I could walk. I would always look for something to swing or something to throw. Also another reason is because I want to make my family proud, I came from a very athletic family who has supported me through whatever I’ve been through. They’ve taken me to games to Irvine all the way to NEW YORK. I love them and I will find a way to pay them back. My last reason I chose to be a MLB player is for where I came from. I am trying to be one of the best athletes to come out of this town and once I do I will give back to who supported me. These are only some of the reasons why I would want to be an MLB player.

Rad Reading February

In the month of February I read the novel Heat by Mike Lupica. Now this book was one of my favorite books I’ve read. This book is about a twelve year old boy named Micheal. Now Micheal plays baseball and has a booming pitching arm. Micheal is a Cuban immigrant. He now lives in the Bronx. Growing up in a poor neighborhood makes it hard for him to get noticed. Micheal has to face all these challenges while still trying to make his dream come true.

I enjoyed this book very much because of the description that Mike Lupica adds to the story. The description makes it easier for the reader to get a picture on what’s going in the moment. Mike Lupica does really good in this boom and this book motivated me.

In this book my favorite character is Micheal because of his ability to overcome his challenges while also staying calm. One of Micheal character traits that he has is simple, and this quote proves it. “On days like this, baseball would make Micheal as happy as it ever did. No umpires. No coaches. No rule’s except the ones you made up.” Now this says why Micheal is simple because Micheal doesn’t need his brother to get him everything to make him happy. He just needs a baseball.

My favorite quote from the book is, “Don’t take this the wrong way,” Micheal said to him, “But ur insane.” Now this quote is my favorite quote because this quote shows how Micheal is naturally funny because Micheal wasn’t trying to be funny. He was just trying to be honest. This shows that Micheal is very warm hearted.

A Day in Action

A witch has made me invisible for twenty-four hours. So that means I could do anything in the world, but only for twenty-four hours. First, I would ride in my mom’s car to the Angel stadium. Then when I get there I would go into the locker rooms and places where only players can go. Then I would take a bat and some baseballs and head up to the field, then I would take some swings and leave the stadium. I would want to do that because I love baseball and I’ve never hit on a MLB field before. Then I would leave the stadium, call my friend, and meet up with him at the Irvine Spectrum. Then I would check out the shoes, and if I like any, I’ll take him. If I’m going to be invisible, I’m going to take advantage. My last station of the day would be to an amusement park with my friends. If a ride had a long line, I could skip it and enjoy the ride. Those are some of the things I would do if I’m invisible.
